Miss Your Pre Pregnancy Body? Here's How We Can Help

Extra pockets of fat on your waist and thighs just won’t reduce, no matter how much you diet and exercise. Stretch marks linger on your belly. Your breasts have sagged, deflated, or just don’t look like they used to.

Just because you’re unbelievably thankful for your children doesn’t mean you have to be satisfied with everything that comes with pregnancy and childbirth, especially the changes to your body. You’re happy to enjoy your family, but want to do so while feeling confident in your own skin.

At Plastic Surgery Arts Center, board-certified plastic surgeon Jan Garcia, Jr., MD, offers numerous procedures that are perfect for revitalizing your postpregnancy body. If your family is complete and you’re ready to regain control over your physique, it’s time to think about how we can help you.

Surgical solutions for a post-pregnancy body

Pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding take a toll on your body. Thankfully, cosmetic surgical procedures can effectively undo many of the negative effects of having children and improve the look of your breasts, abdomen, thighs, and buttocks.

When you come in for a consultation with Dr. Garcia, he discusses the appropriate procedures for your body complaints and physique goals. You may opt for one or more of the following: liposuction, breast enhancements, laser treatments, or a tummy tuck.

Liposuction

Liposuction literally vacuums extra fat from targeted areas on your body. It’s best for fat that lingers, even after you’ve gotten close to your prebaby weight. Women often choose liposuction for areas like the belly, hips, buttocks, thighs, and back, but the simple procedure is effective in other areas as well.

Breast enhancements

Pregnancy changes the look of your breasts and usually not for the better. Your once-perky breasts may now sag under extra weight or feel stretched due to breastfeeding. Many women find their breasts lose volume after having given birth and that their cup size is much reduced compared to it once was. Breast surgery offers solutions.

A breast lift raises your chest to a higher, more youthful profile. Dr. Garcia may also reposition the areola during the procedure.

A breast lift may be done in conjunction with breast augmentation that uses silicone or saline implants to improve the size and shape of your breasts. The lift and/or augmentation makes your breasts appear rounder, firmer, and more shapely.

Laser treatments

Taking care of kids can age you prematurely, but laser treatments effectively smooth your skin and erase fine lines and wrinkles – even those caused by worry. Laser treatments can also help diminish the appearance of scars caused by a cesarean section or stretch marks that form as your belly expands during pregnancy.

Lipectomy

Lipectomy is a fancy word for a “tummy tuck.” During this procedure, Dr. Garcia tightens and flattens a belly pooch so you get an abdomen that looks like it did before you had kids. Dr. Garcia removes excess fat and loose skin, repairs the underlying abdominal muscles that can separate during pregnancy, and stitches you back together.

The recovery process

You can schedule these procedures to be done together or separately. How long it takes you to heal and recover depends on the procedure(s) you had done and your body. You’ll likely be up and about within a few days following liposuction while procedures like breast surgery and lipectomy may require several weeks before you fully heal and return to all normal activities.
