Give Your Weight Loss Efforts a Little Boost with Liposuction

At Plastic Surgery Arts Center, we know how frustrating it can be if you’ve done all the work to lose weight and build a healthy body, but have areas that just won’t reduce regardless of how much you try.

You’re putting in the effort to eat right, move more, sleep well, and decrease stress. All of these strategies are helping you lose pounds, but not necessarily in the right places. If you want a sculpted physique that you’re proud to show off, liposuction can give your weight-loss efforts a boost.

Once you’re at or near your desired weight, liposuction does the fine-tuning that makes all your weight-loss efforts worth it. Even if you successfully lose weight, you may have lingering pockets of fat in areas like your thighs, abdomen, buttocks, and flanks. Liposuction can target stubborn areas of fat in ways that diet and exercise just can’t.

Our experienced plastic surgeon, Dr. Jan Garcia Jr. of Plastic Surgery Arts Center in Webster, Texas, explains how liposuction works to help you get a body that makes you feel confident.

Liposuction complements your weight-loss efforts

Liposuction is about streamlining your look. It doesn’t replace smart weight-loss strategies.

Everybody is different, but if you’re like most people, you have areas that tend to expand first when you gain weight and just won’t shrink, regardless of how much weight you lose.

If you’re significantly overweight, follow smart weight-loss methods to drop pounds on the scale. Once you’re within about 30% of your normal weight, liposuction is super effective in reducing unwanted fat from areas like your thighs, abdomen, hips, buttocks, and back.

Liposuction involves placing a cannula (small tube) just underneath the skin to vacuum away unwanted fat. Instead of being at the mercy of genetics and your body, YOU get to decide from where the fat disappears.

Liposuction can also help you break through a plateau, too. You can lose 2-5 pounds total with the procedure, which might not seem like a lot, but when it’s taken from the right places, it makes a dramatic difference in how you look.

Minimal recovery time

You will have some downtime following liposuction, but it’s minimal and the results are completely worth it. If you have smaller areas treated, like your lower abdomen, back, or upper arms, you can head back to work and most daily activities in just a few days. If you go in for sweeping changes to your physique, plan on taking about a week off of work and life to recover.

You will still have some bruising and swelling following this initial recovery, but in about 4-6 weeks, most of these side effects will have subsided and you’ll have a more svelte frame.

Results are permanent

Liposuction literally sucks out fat cells. They’re gone, so they cannot plump back up and they don’t regenerate. However, liposuction is not magic. You’ll need to stick to healthy eating and exercise to maintain your results. Other fat cells in or near the treatment areas can still swell up.
